Gordon: an AI meal-planning app, moved to EU infrastructure and wired to the supermarket.
Gordon is an AI meal-planning app live in Switzerland on the App Store and Google Play. We moved its platform to EU infrastructure in eu-central-2 (Zurich) for GDPR data residency, then built the Migros grocery cart integration and the Open Food Facts product data pipeline behind it.
A consumer app that has to keep data in Europe and turn plans into baskets.
Gordon serves users in Switzerland, and the client needed its infrastructure on EU soil for GDPR. A meal plan is only useful if it becomes a real, orderable shopping basket. Both depended on the platform underneath.

Three pieces of work, one product.
Infrastructure, a retail integration and a data pipeline, each shipped behind the live app.
EU infrastructure migration
The full platform moved to eu-central-2 (Zurich), so personal data stays in the EU and GDPR data residency is handled in the architecture instead of retrofitted.
Migros grocery cart integration
Meal plans turn into a real, orderable basket with the Migros grocery cart, which closes the gap between planning a meal and buying the ingredients.
Open Food Facts data pipeline
A product data pipeline built on Open Food Facts feeds the meal planner with the ingredient and product information it reasons over.
How it is run in production.
Three environments, one shape
A production Docker Compose stack runs across dev, QA and prod, so what passes in QA is what ships.
Managed where it counts
RDS PostgreSQL for data, an Elastic Beanstalk application layer, and an EC2-hosted Redis cache.
Deploys scoped to environments
GitHub Actions CI/CD with environment-scoped deploys keeps releases predictable and limits what a deploy can touch.
Compliance in the architecture
Data residency was decided at the infrastructure layer, which is cheaper and safer than patching it in later.
What it runs on.
The same shape in every environment.
Live on both stores, with the migration behind it.

“PAI moved our Gordon platform to EU infrastructure and kept delivery predictable: senior engineers, clear communication, and production-ready from week one.”
