TerraSenti: from an off-the-shelf prototype to a custom soil sensor PCB.

TerraSenti started as a prototype on off-the-shelf parts. We turned it into a V1 custom PCB package ready for prototype manufacturing and reference-customer evaluation, and handed over every source file.

01The brief

A dev board proves the idea. A V1 board makes it a product.

A prototype built on off-the-shelf parts can show that a sensor works, but it cannot be costed, reproduced or sold. The V1 needed its own board, a bill of materials, and a package a fab house can build from.

02What we built

Everything a fab house needs, and the files to keep.

Four deliverables take the design from schematic to something that can be manufactured and evaluated.

Schematic and PCB layout

A reviewed schematic and PCB layout package, built in KiCad.

BOM and sourcing

A bill of materials with component selection and JLCPCB-aligned sourcing, so the board can actually be built.

Manufacturing package

Gerbers, drill files, pick and place outputs and JLCPCB settings, ready to send to fab.

Handover documentation

A hardware handover note and architecture documentation, so the next engineer is never guessing.

03Engineering decisions

The choices that matter on a first board.

Design for the fab you will use

Outputs and sourcing are aligned to JLCPCB from the start, which avoids a redesign when the first order goes in.

The BOM is part of the design

Component selection is made with sourcing and cost in mind, not left as an afterthought once the layout is done.

Documentation is a deliverable

The handover note and architecture documentation ship with the files, so the design outlives the engagement.

You own the files

Full source handover: editable KiCad files, symbols and footprints. No black boxes.

04The package

What was delivered.

Everything is editable and belongs to the client.

05Outcome

A V1 package, contract signed.

The V1 package was handed over for prototype manufacturing and reference-customer evaluation, and the engagement with MythraCore is live under a signed contract.

“PAI took our soil sensor from an off-the-shelf prototype to a manufacturing-ready V1 in weeks. Schematics, BOM, Gerbers and full KiCad source were all in our hands at handover. No black boxes.”
